The 160 kilometres of Florac

This equestrian-endurance race is one of the three most famous in the world. It was created by the National Park in 1975. Every year on a September morning, some hundred riders launch an assault on the four massifs of the Cévennes. At an average speed of over 14 kilometres per hour, and with total differences in height of 5,000 metres, this is a tough course for horses and their riders. Regular veterinarian controls ensure that the animal’s limits are respected.

Enjoying the 160 kilometre trail

Without necessarily being among the best riders in the world, you can still ride the emblematic “160” trail. Its route is no longer that of the real race. But you will discover from it the most beautiful scenery of the National Park in a wild natural atmosphere that is unique in Europe. This circuit – a veritable communion between human, animal and nature – will mark your real arrival in the Cévennes. It can also be done on foot or mountain bike.
