There-and-back itineraries

GRs 4, 6, 7, 70 and 700 cross the Cévennes National Park, as do their variants GR 43-44, GR 60-62, GR 71-72. Signposting is the responsibility of the county hiking committees. You are strongly advised to equip yourself with IGN Top25 maps and topographical guides before setting out.

Loops

Whether they are GR or GR de pays, the loops are all multi-day circuits that circle remarkable massifs. These exist in great numbers in the Cévennes: GR 66 goes round Mont Aigoual, GR 67 round the pays cévenol, GR 68 round the Mont Lozère, and a GR de pays round the Causse Méjean and Causse du Sauveterre, etc. GR de pays are signposted by a double orange-and-red mark.

The Robert Louis Stevenson Path (GR 70)

This 220 kilometre-long GR follows the itinerary of the famous Scottish author’s rite-of-passage hike with a donkey. The 12-day adventure leads the hiker from Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille (Haute-Loire) to St-Jean-du-Gard (Gard). It is an occasion for discovering extraordinary scenery, from the Massif Central to the Mediterranean Cévenol valleys, at a donkey’s pace.
