The various natural environments of the National Park - aquatic, peaty, rocky, herbaceous, farmland, forest... - have been greatly influenced by human activity.
Natural habitats, fauna and flora are considered a special-interest heritage. The most threatened habitats and species, classified according to their degree of rarity, are protected by international conventions, EU directives and French legislation.
