A very productive twinning

Saguenay national Park

Over the years, the twinning has resulted in numerous initiatives and very diverse shared projects: exhibitions; training courses, professional stays of various categories of personnel, exchanges among young people and rangers; publications; participation in international forums; official delegations, etc. Today a solid bridge of exchanges has been built from one side of the Atlantic to the other.

Productive educational exchanges

Moose

In the past few years, schools have become heavily involved. In 2006-2007, 400 pupils from the Cévennes carried out joint activities with pupils from Saguenay. The goal of this class exchange programme was to share knowledge and foster an openness towards the world and towards difference. In 2007-2008, Florac and Vébron schools began a correspondence with St-Félix-d’Otis school in Quebec. These exchanges took place via video-conferences and were a considerable success among the pupils and teaching staff of both countries.

The 2008–2010 action plan

Saguenay

The new action plan signed in Quebec in September 2008 has several objectives, among them developing a shared expertise in managing park territories. Sharing experience and know-how is also on the programme: exchanges between Cévenol and Quebecois park rangers have been scheduled. The action plan also confirms and reinforces the educational dimension: correspondence via webcams will continue in primary schools and should also be trialled in secondary schools.
