The teams in the field

The Park rangers have a multi-facetted job. They participate in scientific research and the monitoring of animal and plant species. They are responsible for helping inhabitants and visitors to discover and understand the environment of the National Park, and for raising their awareness of the challenges that sustainable development poses. Their role is also to monitor the special regulations that apply to the Park’s central zone.

The Cévennes National Park rangers are spread over five field offices:

  • Aigoual
  • Causse-Gorges
  • Mont Lozère East
  • Mont Lozère West
  • Cevenol Valleys.

Each office has a head and in certain cases a deputy head. Each ranger is in charge of a clearly defined geographical sector.

  • the Environment, Protection and Sustainable Planning Department (SEPAD);
  • the Town Planning and Regional Development Department (SUAT);
  • the Tourism, Culture and Information Department (STCI);
