An abundance of plant species

About 2,300 plant species have been itemised in the National Park. They represent around 40% of French flora on only 0.5% of the country’s surface area.

High heritage value

Forty-one plant species enjoy national protection, and six regional protection.

Few endemic species

Twenty-four endemic French species have been listed in the National Park. They are mostly Mediterranean species found on rocky short-grass prairies, scree and rocks (both limestone and siliceous). There are no endemic plant species that are exclusive to the Park’s territory, but there are several endemic sub-species and varieties.
