The general "Cévennes" collection

This collection contains generalist and specialist works on the Cévennes in all areas of social and natural sciences: books, reviews, articles, reports, studies, cards, CD Roms, DVDs.

The naturalist collection

This collection consists of identification guides, specific studies of the species of the Cévennes, but also of other French regions and the world.

Reviews

Local reviews (Causses et Cévennes, Lien des chercheurs cévenols, Cévennes magazine, etc.); scientific reviews (Bilan scientifique de la Drac, Bulletins de la société d’étude de sciences naturelles de Nîmes, etc.); naturalist reviews (La Hulotte, Fruits oubliés, La garance voyageuse, etc.); old newsletters (Bulletin de la société de lettres, sciences et arts de la Lozère, Bulletin de la société d’agriculture de la Lozère, etc.). These reviews have been catalogued and the articles entered into the bibliographical database.

The Jean Roux collection

The personal library of Vialas curate Jean Roux consists of works of literature, religion and history as well as genealogical studies and historical researches that he carried out.

The Laynaud collection

This collection is the library of a former director of the National Park. The works contained in it deal with the Park’s issues in the 1970s.

The Calcat collection

This library of one of the founders of the Font Vive association contains works that deal essentially with the southern Ardèche and the region of Les Vans. It also has a nearly complete series of the Revue de Vivarais.

The Dos Santos collection

This collection is dedicated to representations and uses of flora, mainly in the Cévennes. It consists of works, theses, unpublished local manuscripts, articles, notes and field notes. For comparative purposes, it also contains documents on the representation and use of flora in other parts of France, and even the world, making it possible to understand the originality and genesis of Cévenol usages.

The de Roche collection

These archives of a Génolhac dynasty show the way of life and social and economic relations within a family of the rural gentry from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

The Pellet collection

This collection consists of the archives of Dr Pellet, a co-founder of Font Vive: studies of Génolhac and the surrounding villages, genealogical studies, copies of notarial acts and registry-office entries, family archives, local business archives, etc. This collection is currently being processed and is not yet accessible to the public.

The Documentation and Archive Centre also holds a collection of microfilms of registry- office entries from the Gard districts within the Park’s area. These microfilms are completed by extracts of parish-register or registry-office entries and genealogical dossiers.
